I wanted to make sure that the rough edges were not somehow related to the artwork. On the left is an enlargement of an etched plate showing some scalloped edges. Could this be erosion starting to happen?
On the right is a blowup of the PosJet inkjet film printed from Adobe Illustrator to the inkjet Epson 2200. The edges look really sharp on the film but of course there is going to have to be some pixilation.
The PosJet to Puretch translation is pretty spooky in its accuracy! The accuracy of the etching process is equally scary in its accuracy. Everyone of those stair-step jaggies shows up in the etching just like they appear in the film positive.
That small red line is .02 inches. That makes those jaggies around. 015 inch. (.4mm) This process (without that pesky erosion problem) can reproduce anything that you can create.
